Esther Kinsky is a novelist, poet, and literary translator, one of the loftiest and most original voices in the German literary scene. She was the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Leipzig Fair Prize, the Paul Celan Prize, and the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize, and her work, often likened to that of W.G. Sebald, is characterised by the mastery with which she explores the human experience of places, memory, and remembrance. Beyond Di luce e polvere, her works translated into Italian include Macchia (Saggiatore 2019), Sul fiume (Saggiatore 2021) and Rombo (Iperborea 2023), which received the Kleist Prize and was nominated for the Deutscher Buchpreis in 2022. She currently spends extended periods of the year in Italy, in a village in Friuli, a region she is particularly fond of.
