José María Micó (Barcelona) is a poet, musician, and translator. He teaches at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. An award-winning poet, he has translated classic European authors such as Ramón Llull, Jordi de Sant Jordi, Ausiàs March, Petrarch, Ariosto, and Tasso, alongside contemporary Catalan and Italian poets. His translation of Dante’s The Divine Comedy is universally regarded as a masterpiece, while his rendition of Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso received the National Translation Award in both Spain and Italy. In recent years, Micó has set his own poetry to music for the duo Marta y Micó, where he accompanies his wife’s voice with his guitar.
