Asma Mhalla is a specialist in the politics and geopolitics of technology and is a member of the LAP (Laboratoire d'Anthropologie Politique) at EHESS/CNRS. She teaches at Columbia, Sciences Po, and the École Polytechnique. In the summer of 2023, she hosted CyberPouvoirs, a popular France Inter programme focusing on the issues she also addresses in her book. Mhalla is primarily interested in the new forms of state and Big Tech power, both in civilian and military contexts (hybrid warfare), as well as in democracy, social media governance, the geopolitical and ideological aspects of AI, and technological sovereignty. Her first book, Technopolitique: comment la technologie fait de nous des soldats (Seuil, 2024), was translated into Italian by Chiara Bongiovanni and published by add in 2025.
