Synopsis: Young Brett must cope with the underworld of Johannesburg gambling, while a seemingly innocuous bet on horse racing jeopardizes the surprise he’s prepared for his Father’s birthday.

Profile: Jason Adam Maselle is a filmmaker from Johannesburg, South Africa currently based in New York City. His work is driven by his passion to tell about South African stories imbued with moral complexity and deep characters, while exploring universal themes such as unrequited love, mourning and those feelings that leave one breathless. His works have been screened on HBO Max, SportsNet New York and at numerous international and Oscar qualifying film festivals. He is the recipient of the Maurice Kanbar scholarship and the Peter R. Gould scholarship. He is the Black Family Prize winner and obtained the Riese Post-Production award financing. He was a finalist for the ARRI Volker Bahnemann award for outstanding cinematography.
