Information Literacy courses with Open Badge

Specialised library staff hold free Information Literacy courses that issue Open Badges.

An Open Badge is a digital certification that validate and showcase the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired. Open Badges are recognised worldwide, can be included in electronic curricula and shared on social networks.

Once an Open Badge has been awarded, you must retrieve it. For more information on how to obtain, use, and make the most of your digital certificates, visit the Open Badges and digital certificates page.

Courses for Bachelor’s students

  • Information Literacy – basic level: a 4-hour theoretical-practical course providing the basic skills related to the search, selection, management, use and citation of bibliographic information that are necessary for writing a thesis.
Open Badge: Information Literacy - livello base

Courses for Master's students

  • Information Literacy – advanced level: a 6-hour theoretical-practical course providing the advanced skills related to the search, selection, management, use and citation of bibliographic information that are necessary for writing a dissertation or text coherent with scientific-academic standards.
Open Badge: Information Literacy - livello avanzato

Scheduled courses

The courses are held in person at the Bloomberg Financial Lab.

A maximum of 10 people is allowed per edition.
You must use your own laptop or tablet to participate in the course.

The course is about the bibliographic research (resources, strategies and information management) and is aimed at students on degree programmes in the departments of Economics and Management.

  • Module 1. Introduction to Bibliographic Research
    Its purpose is to introduce bibliographic research, clarifying its peculiarities and illustrating the basic tools offered by the University.
  • Module 2. Tools for Bibliographic Research
    Aimed at providing mastery of the main and most authoritative tools for researching scientific publications.
  • Module 3.a Tools for Legal Research
    It presents the peculiarities of legal research and is aimed at providing mastery of the tools offered by the University for this line of study.
  • Module 3.b Tools for Quantitative Research
    Aimed at illustrating the characteristics of data research and familiarising students with the tools offered by the University for the retrieval and processing of financial data and company master data.

Modules 1 and 2 are shared, while for module 3 you can choose between 3.a and 3.b.

Other training initiatives

The library supports other training initiatives for courses of study in the Arts and Humanities area, with interventions aimed at the selection and retrieval of resources within workshops or seminars already organised. In order to schedule such interventions, the lecturers responsible for the initiatives can write to  consulenzabec@unive.it.

Training for PhD students, researchers and teachers

The training courses for PhD students, researchers and lecturers, which are carried out in cooperation with the other offices of the University Library System (SBA), are part of the University's Open Science Promotion Plan.
