Sustainability

Ca’ Foscari University has been committed to sustainability since 2010 through its Sustainable Ca' Foscari. In September 2014, the university launched the Sustainable Campus project to promote and develop sustainable actions and projects across all its venues and branches.

The university has included the promotion of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as one of its strategic goals, targeting its community (students, staff, faculty) as well as other stakeholders such as citizens, future generations, and other institutions.

Ca' Foscari University is one of the founding members of the Italian University Network for Sustainable Development (RUS) and supports the promotion of SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals, having served as the Organising Secretariat until 2018.

As part of its initiatives, the Department of Economics promotes the Bookcrossing initiative at the San Giobbe Economics Campus. This initiative involves a stand where anyone can give and take books free of charge, participating in a virtuous circle based on re-use of resources and knowledge sharing.

Furthermore, students have the opportunity to acquire Sustainability Competencies through voluntary activities focused on economic, social, or environmental sustainability. These activities, such as courses, workshops, interviews, and research, need to be agreed upon between students and their respective professors. Upon completion and approval, the teacher will transcribe 1 extracurricular CFU/ECTS in the student’s study plan.
