Over the years, the Department of Economics has hosted scientific meetings and conferences of national and international relevance. The topics which have been addressed cover the wide range of the Department’s research areas.
Scientific conferences usually involve the participation of important associations in the various fields, on a european and world level, as well as the scientific, economic, administrative and organisational support of the Department’s faculty and staff.
EURO Working Group on Multicriteria Decision Aiding

The EURO Working Group on Multicriteria Decision Aiding is a working group whose objective is to promote original research in the field of multicriteria decision aiding at the European level. The main theme of the 2025 meeting is "Multicriteria Decision Aiding in Portfolio Selection”. Numerous multicriteria decision-aiding methods have been developed in portfolio selection, and this theme aims to encourage debate on this specific topic.
Annual meeting of the Association of Southern European Economic Theorists

ASSET (ASsociation of Southern-European Economic Theorists) is a group of twenty one economics departments and economics research centres located in the Mediterranean area of Europe and Africa. The purpose of the association is to encourage cooperation and exchange of researchers and ideas among the participating research institutions in the general field of economic theory and quantitative economics. To this end, ASSET organizes various scientific activities, in particular an annual meeting hosted by a different member institution each year. The scientific activities and meetings of ASSET are open to international scholars from all parts of the world. ASSET 2024 hosts around 200 participants; it includes two Keynote Lectures and around 170 selected speeches.

International Society for Bayesian Analysis

ISBA 2024 is the current edition of a stream of conferences organized by the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA). The scope of the ISBA world meetings is to bring together the international statistical community of researchers and professionals who develop Bayesian methods and apply them to challenging problems in different fields, ranging from economics, and finance, to business, industry, biostatistics, pharmaceutical statistics, environmental statistics, etc. ISBA 2024 hosts more than 800 participants; the programme includes seven lectures, five parallel sessions, two poster sessions and two satellite events (ISBA-Fusion and ISBA-Cini).
Age-It: Ageing Well in an Ageing Society

The first General Meeting of the NRRP project Age-It, of which the Department of Economics leads the Spoke 6, is a unique opportunity to foster debate among 10 Spokes and 1000 researchers who are facing the challenges connected with research on aging in Italy, from different disciplinary perspectives. During the meeting there are many parallel sessions dedicated to research activities carried out by researchers of the Age-It community: each session deals with a relevant topic related to demographic aging, stressing the implications of research on practice and policies in the fields of biomedicine, demography, society, economics and/or on technological innovation.
“Convegno Nazionale di Contabilità Pubblica” - 6th Convention: Public policies for investments between risk, uncertainty, control and responsibility

The 6th Convention on Public Accounting, scientific meeting, which lies within the agreement between the Department of Political Sciences of the University of Pisa and the Department of Economics of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, is structured in five sessions which deal with the following topics: “Risk, uncertainty and State’s role”, “Intergenerational planning and balance”, “Informative bases and quantitative analyses in public investments”, “Public investments in the NRRP”, “Controls on NRRP investments: from a sound management to results achievement”. After that, there is a final round-table entitled “What future for public investments: thoughts and reflections”.

European Conference on Stochastic Optimization-Computational Management Science

This joint event provides a forum for fruitful discussions and interactions among researchers and professionals from industry and institutional sectors on decision making under uncertainty in a complex world. The conference falls within the scopes of both CMS and EWGSO and, in particular, it focuses on models, methods and computational tools in stochastic, robust and distributionally robust optimization and on computational aspects of management science with emphasis on risk management, valuation problems, measurement applications.

Forty years of the Convention of Montego Bay on the Law of the Sea

The international Conference “Mare Liberum, Mare Clausum” celebrates the first forty years of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), signed in Montego Bay on December 10th, 1982, and thirty years since its coming into effect. Some of the top world experts on this topic participate in the meeting, which is organised by the Italian Naval Academy (Istituto di Studi Militari Marittimi - ISMM) and the Venice International University (VIU) in collaboration with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. There are four complementary sessions which explore UNCLOS from different points of view; the outcome is the Venice Statement on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and Sustainability, a tool which will be handed over to the UN and EU in order to facilitate the negotiations under way and the application of the Convention to matters that had not been fully regulated when the “Constitution of Sea” came into effect.

The “Policy Colloquia” are an opportunity for scholars and policy-makers to meet and debate about the typical topics of the CiMET network: industry and production systems, economic and social development, internationalisation of businesses and territories. These meetings aim at promoting the exchange of ideas, reflections and perspectives while fostering the dialogue between people who deal with the same topics from different points of view and are looking for innovative, efficient and effective policies. The “Policy Colloquia” structure involves professors, members of local institutions and businesses, as it tries to support the participation of young researchers, managers and public administrators.

Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Actuarial Sciences and Finance

“Convegno Nazionale di Contabilità Pubblica 2019” - 2nd Convention: Democracy and public budget

The Department of Political Sciences of the University of Pisa and the Department of Economics of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice undersigned an agreement to reactivate the annual conventions on public accounting with the purpose of creating a recurring opportunity for scientific in-depth analysis and inter-disciplinary exchange between the institution dealing with the management and controlling of public finance and Universities, in the field of public accounting, public finance and financial law. The 2nd Convention will address different topics such as “Budgetary decision and Parliament”, “Information on public finance: methodological issues and databases” and “Budgetary law among the Court of Audit and the Constitutional Court”.
