Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival

The programme of Friday, March 21st

Venice, March 20th, 2025. Friday, March 21st, 2025, will mark the third day of the fifteenth edition of the Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival. The day's program will begin at 11:00 AM at the Auditorium Santa Margherita with the "Francesco Pasinetti" VideoContest featuring a selection of short films from the winners of the previous edition of this historic Venetian event. At 12:00 PM, Young Filmmakers at Ca' Foscari will follow, presenting works created by students from Ca' Foscari University and the Venice International University Summer School.

At 2:00 PM, Short Remembers Kumar Shahani, a tribute to the late Indian director, will take place, featuring a screening of his 1991 documentary Bhavantarana. At 3:30 PM, the festival screen will welcome East Asia Now, the regular program curated by Stefano Locati, showcasing three short films from Japan, Thailand, and China. Then, at 4:30 PM, Short Meets Gianfranco Angelucci: The World of Casanova and Fellini will commemorate the 300th anniversary of Casanova's birth. On this occasion, Angelucci will present his documentary E il Casanova di Fellini? (1975), which delves into the troubled production process of the celebrated film by Fellini.

The evening opens at 6:30 PM with Short Meets Roberto Catani, a masterclass led by the multiple-award-winning director and animator, curated by Andrijana Ružić. The session will include a screening of six of his short films, including his recent work Il burattino e la balena. Next, at 7:30 PM will be Short Presents WeShort, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Italian streaming platform for short films, also a longstanding partner of the festival. Concluding the day, starting at 8:00 PM, are the screenings for the International Competition. The day's lineup includes: The worst kind of pain by Ana Clara Miranda Lucena (Brazil), Match by Maria Sayegh (Lebanon), L'attaque by Aureliana Bontempo (Italy), The Letter by Ernat Sabitov (Kazakhstan), Love from the shadow by Ale Gálvez (Chile), and Home by Danilo Bjelica (Serbia).
