Information on QS Survey - Academics

Ca' Foscari University of Venice ("University"), as part of its institutional aims and in fulfilment of the obligations set forth in art. 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679 ("Regulation"), provides this information regarding the processing of your personal and contact details.

1) Data controller

The Data Controller is Ca 'Foscari University of Venice, it has its registered office in Dorsoduro n. 3246, 30123 Venice (VE), represented by the Rector (“University”).

2) Data protection officer

The University has appointed the "Data Protection Officer", who can be contacted by writing to the e-mail address  dpo@unive.it or to the following address: Ca 'Foscari University, Venice, Data Protection Officer, Dorsoduro n. 3246, 30123 Venice (VE).

3) Types of data, purpose and legal basis of processing

The University uses the ranking product by "QS Quacquarelli Symonds" ("QS"), an international consulting company specialized in the sector, to evaluate its ranking on the international university panorama. Following indications from the internal teaching staff, the University has collected your personal data and contact details in your role as a highly esteemed colleague in the network of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. If you consent, by selecting the appropriate link on this web page, the University will communicate the aforementioned data to the company "QS", which will contact you in the coming months to invite you to participate in a survey. The legal basis of such processing is therefore represented by your consent (Article 6.1.a) of the Regulation - "consent of the interested party").

The University also intends to include your personal and contact details in its CRM, in order to send you communications relating to its initiatives.

The legal basis for this different processing is represented by article 6.1.e), of the Regulations - "execution of a task that is of public interest or is connected to the exercise of public authority which the Data Controller represents", including the sending of the aforementioned communications as part of the institutional activities o the "third party" mission" of the University. In any case, you may object to the sending of communications by the University by selecting the appropriate link on this web page.

The personal data processing will be based on the principles of correctness, lawfulness and transparency and on the protection of the privacy and rights of the data user, as well as on the additional principles set forth in article 5 of the Regulations.

4) Processing methods and atthorized parties

The processing of personal data will be carried out by authorized parties (in compliance with the provisions of article 29 of the Regulations), with the use of computerized procedures, adopting appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect them from unauthorized or illegal access, destruction, loss of integrity and confidentiality, even if it is accidental in nature.

5) Duration of data storage

Personal data will be kept by the University for the period of time necessary to achieve the purposes for which they are collected and processed, in any case for no more than 5 years after their collection.

6) Recipients and categories of recipients of personal data

For the purposes set out above, in addition to specifically authorized employees and collaborators of the University, your personal data, where you have consented, will be communicated to the company QS for the conduct of the aforementioned survey. In any case, personal data will not be disseminated.

7) Provision of data

Consent to communicate your personal data and contact details to QS is optional. In the event that you do not consent, your personal data will not be disclosed to the company QS and you will not be able to take part in the aforementioned survey.

6) Rights of users and how to exercise them

As a user, you have the right to obtain from the University, in the cases provided for by the Regulations, access to personal data, the correction, integration and cancellation of the data or the limitation of data processing or to opt out of the data processing itself (Article 15 and following articles of the Regulations).

Alternatively, you can contact the Data Controller, by send a PEC email to  protocollo@pec.unive.it. Users who believe that the processing of their personal data is in violation of the provisions of the Regulations also have the right to file a complaint to the Data Guarantor, as per article 77 of the Regulation, or to take pursue action through the appropriate judicial offices (Article 79 of the Regulation).
