Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Tasks and responsibilities

  • inform and advise data controller, data processor and employees in charge of processing on data protection obligations arising from the GDPR or from other national or European Union data protection regulations;
  • monitor compliance with the GDPR, and with other national or European Union data protection regulations as well as with the policies of the data controller or data processor concerning protection of personal data, including allocation of responsibilities, awareness-raising and training of staff involved in data processing and in the related monitoring activities;
  • if requested, advise on and monitor data protection impact assessments and their implementation in compliance with art. 35 of the GDPR;
  • cooperate with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali);
  • act as a contact point with the Italian Data Protection Authority on issues linked to data processing, including prior consultation in compliance with article 36, also consulting the supervisory authority with regard to any other issues whenever deemed necessary;
  • maintain records of processing activities under the responsibility of the data controller.
