The programme at a glance

The double degree agreement between Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Bucharest offers students the opportunity to pursue an international study path, attending courses at the partner University during the 1st semester of the 2nd year and achieving, at the end of the programme, two academic qualifications.

Admission requirements

The programme is reserved to students enrolled (or planning to enrol within the set deadlines) in the master’s degree in Language Science - curriculum Language Sciences, Language Sciences path at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in the academic year following the Call’s publication year.

To participate in the programme, students must apply during their first year of enrollment and have an English language proficiency at least at C1 level, according to the  Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). An official language certification is not required.

Students selected before the actual enrolment in the master’s degree programme in Language Sciences must meet the course’s admission requirements (minimum curricular requirements and individual preparation) and commit to enrol within the deadlines set for the academic year following the Call’s publication year. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the programme.

Application and selection

Students can apply for the programme following the procedures and deadlines outlined in the Call for applications and its annexes, which are published annually.

Calls and forms


Programme and study plan

Selected students will spend an academic mobility semester at the University of Bucharest during the 2nd semester of the 1st year or 1st semester of the 2nd year of the master's degree programme in Language Sciences (according to the student’s preference).

During the mobility period, they will be required to take exams for a total of 30 ECTS, to be agreed upon with the programme coordinators at both universities, which will be recognized at Ca’ Foscari as exams included in the study plan.

Tuition fees and mobility grant

Selected students are required to pay tuition fees to Ca' Foscari for the entire duration of the programme and will benefit from total exemption from the payment of tuition fees at the partner University.

For the mobility period, students will benefit from a mobility grant with a variable amount, as defined annually in the Calls for Applications.


Mobility procedures

Before departing for the mobility, selected students will be required to:

  • complete the registration/application procedure at the receiving institution according to the methods and within the deadlines set by the Partner University;
  • sign the grant agreement that regulates the disbursement of the mobility grant;
  • fill out the Learning Agreement, listing all the educational activities to be carried out at the Partner University and identifying the equivalences with the courses included in the Ca' Foscari study plan, which must be approved by the academic coordinators of the programme at Ca' Foscari and at the Host University.

Further information will be provided by the Welcome Unit (International Office) upon completion of the selection process and after formal acceptance of the offer.

After reaching the destination, students will have to get the confirmation of arrival form signed by the Partner University, to certify the actual start date of the mobility period (orientation/welcome activities or educational activities).

If the students intend to make changes to the study plan agreed upon before departure, it is possible to complete a Learning Agreement variation form, which must be approved by the academic coordinators of the programme at Ca' Foscari and at the Host University.

Before returning from the mobility, students will have to get the confirmation of departure form signed by the Partner University, to certify the actual end date of the mobility period.

As soon as available, students must send to the Welcome Unit (International Office) the Transcript of records issued by the Host University, i.e. the certificate listing all the exams they passed during the mobility abroad.

The exams reported in the Transcript of records must correspond to those agreed upon in the Learning Agreement and any subsequent variation forms.


Graduation

The thesis will be written following the procedures established by Ca’ Foscari, with the co-supervision of a professor from the host university.

Students will graduate in Venice, following the procedures and meeting the deadlines indicated on the relevant webpage: Thesis and final degree exam | Deadlines, admission and procedures.

Once they have obtained the Italian degree, students must inform the Welcome Unit, which will be responsible for sending the necessary documentation to the partner university to initiate the Romanian diploma issuance process.

Both diplomas will be legally recognized in the countries of issuance.
