TIPS

Trust in Philosophy and Science (TIPS)
Interdisciplinary research centre in the philosophy, history, methodologies and practice of science

Aims

Trust in Philosophy and Science (TIPS) centre aims at:

  1. rethinking the foundations (historical, philosophical, methodological) of the idea of science and its applications
  2. creating an interdisciplinary environment of discussion and collaboration among ongoing ways of doing science, philosophy, and logic
  3. furthering a competent and engaged public debate on the social role of science and the value of effective science communication

History

TIPS takes its cue from the previous Trust in Science (TIS) research centre. Set up right before the covid 19 pandemic, TIS questioned the controversial features and circumstances of trust in science and of the uses of science by contemporary democratic institutions.
Four years on, and after the resolution of the pandemic crisis, questions about the credibility of science and about the choice of reliable methods, tools, models and narratives for an effective analysis of science and its applications are still open and timely.
