QS Sustainability, Ca' Foscari in the Italian top 10 of the world ranking

Ca' Foscari University of Venice is recognised as one of the leading academic institutions in sustainability. In the QS Sustainability University Rankings 2025, it is ranked 262nd worldwide out of 1,744 universities assessed and 7th in Italy. Now in its third edition, this ranking evaluates how universities contribute to promoting sustainable development by addressing significant environmental and social challenges through research, teaching, and community engagement.

The 2023 Sustainability Report has been released. Ca’ Foscari University publishes an annual Sustainability Report on the activities undertaken by the University in the field of sustainability, in order to monitor the objectives and commitments it has made in terms of sustainable development. The Report explains how the university’s activities contribute to achieving the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Ca’ Foscari University in partnership with the Departments, schools and the University Library Services promotes the development of many Book Crossing corners, which are located in many university buildings. In this way,  everyone could take one or more books and release others, for free. This initiative support the sharing of knowledge and the cultural exchange. Moreover, it is faithful to the sustainability politics of the University of re-using paper resources. Find out where is your closest corner!

It is the action program for people, planet and prosperity signed by UN member countries. By 2030, with the 17 SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind. Sustainability is a pillar of the Strategic Plan of Ca' Foscari, in which we have included the dissemination and implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the 17 SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals.

Awards

LEED Certification

Palazzo Foscari has officially earned the LEED EB:O&M certification becoming one of the oldest “green”
buildings on the planet. The LEED certification attests the sustainability level of a building.

QS Sustainability University Rankings

In 2024 Ca' Foscari placed 262nd in the international ranking of sustainable universities (out of 1744 participants universities), turning out to be the seventh italian university.
