Marco Vecchiato graduated in Environmental Sciences (B.Sc and M.Sc) at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and in 2015 obtained a PhD in Earth, Environmental and Polar Sciences at the University of Siena. He later became Research Fellow at Ca’Foscari, moving in 2019 at the Institute of Polar Sciences of the National Research Council (ISP-CNR). From November 2023, Marco Vecchiato is Researcher in Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics, Ca’Foscari University of Venice.

His main research activity focuses on the development and application of analytical methods aimed at the understanding of the transport processes of emerging and persistent pollutants, as proxies of the human activity in urban and remote polar areas: in this context Marco Vecchiato focused his expertise on the determination of the environmental distribution of Personal Care Products at trace-levels, mainly developing techniques based on gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.

He participated to several sampling campaigns with field activities in Antarctica and in the Arctic, coordinating and contributing to different research projects. He is the author of 46 publications in scopus-indexed journals (H-index: 20) and 50+ communications in national and international conferences.
