Matteo Favaretti Camposampiero, PhD, is Associate Professor of the Philosophy of Language at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

His research focuses on early modern philosophy from Descartes to Kant with a special interest in the philosophy of language, metaphysics, logic, rational theology, the philosophy of biology and medicine, the mind-body problem, the theory of knowledge, and modalities.

He is currently director of the CREMT – Center for Renaissance and Early Modern Thought (Ca’ Foscari University) and vice-president of the Sodalitas Leibnitiana.

In 2021, he won the annual essay contest of the Leibniz Society of North America with a paper on “Leibniz’s Appropriation of Spinoza’s Argument against Mind-Body Causation”.

His publications include 3 authored books, 8 edited books, more than 35 chapters in volumes, and 30 research articles in the following journals:
