Chiara Spadaro, geographer, is currently research fellow at the Department of Languages and Literatures, Communication, Education and Society (DILL) at the University of Udine, where she works on food and landscape education.

She has an interdisciplinary education: she graduated in 2011 with a degree in Cultural Anthropology at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and since 2008 she has trained as a journalist writing for Altreconomia; in 2023 she concluded the PhD in Geographical Studies at the University of Padua, with a research on the food system of the Venice Lagoon.
Her research today moves between foodscapes, hydrography and animal geographies, listening to their different soundprints.

She is a member of the Italian Local Food Policy Network and of the Italian Association of Oral History (Aiso); since 2022 she has been editor in chief of the journal Re|Cibo and since 2021 editor of the journal Il de Martino. Stories voices sounds.
She also continues to work as a journalist and in communications for not-for-profit organizations and for local agencies. She wrote several books on environmental issues; the latest is L’arcipelago delle api. Microcosmi lagunari nell’era della crisi climatica (wetlands, 2022).
