Angelo Maria Monaco (1976) (attainment of National Scientific Qualification for university association 07.04.2017, competition sector 10 / B1, History of Modern Art and History of Criticism) graduated in Museology and then received a doctorate from the University of Lecce under the guidance of Massimiliano Rossi.

He received the title of Master of Art (MA) at the Warburg Institute in London, where he was later a fellow of the Accademia dei Lincei and British Academy (2009).

Since 2005 He has been an expert on the subject ('cultore della materia') for the chairs of Museology and History of Art Criticism, he was the holder of a two-year post-doctoral research grant on sources for art literature in the seventeenth century, at the University of Salento (2010-2012 ).

Since 2008 he has been scientific curator and manager of the online platform www.patrimoniolatente.eu: a technological tool for the enhancement of 16th century painting in the dioceses of Salento.

He was a member of the historical-artistic research unit of PRIN 2008 "Orlando Furioso and its translation into images. Italian and European Fortune ”of the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa.

He is the author of numerous scientific publications. There are two monographs: the first, from the degree thesis on the museological aspects relating to the cult of the relics of the martyrs of Otranto: 'The Celestial Jerusalem of Otranto. The myth of the eight hundred martyrs in its memorial reconfigurations' (Series of Studies of the Department of Heritage, Arts and History of the University of Salento, Galatina 2004); the other, from the postdoctoral research activity, is a monograph on Giacomo Barri, painter, engraver and art writer in Venice in the seventeenth century (Edifir, 2014). He is also the author of essays in proceedings of international study conferences, in exhibition catalogs and articles in group A scientific journals. He has carried out professional work at the CTL of the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa (2014-2015), collaborating with Lina Bolzoni on the composition of the iconographic appendix of the critical edition of the Idea del Theatro by Giulio Camillo Delminio (Adelphi, 2015).

His research topics concern art literature, museology in its typological aspects, the circulation and reception of iconographic sources between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, art in the sixteenth century along the Adriatic routes.

Since 2012 he has been a member of S.I.S.C.A. (Italian Society of the History of Art Criticism).

Since 2021 is editor chief of Venezia Arti, scientific review of the Department of 'Filosofia e Beni culturali', Ca' Foscari.

Since 2023 is a ICOM member.
