Francesco Moscone is an Associate Professor (Part-time/Tempo definito) in the Department of Economics at the University of Venice. He also holds a full professorship at Brunel University, where he leads the Healthcare Management and Wellbeing area. Additionally, he serves as a Visiting Professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. His previous academic roles include positions at the University of Leicester, Girton College at the University of Cambridge, and the London School of Economics.

Francesco’s research primarily focuses on sustainable health expenditure, examining potential savings from both demand and supply perspectives. On the demand side, he investigates scenarios such as potential savings if the smoking population shifts to reduced-risk products like vaping, if heavy drinkers move towards moderate drinking, and if individuals adopt more physically active lifestyles. On the supply side, his research explores potential productivity gains in hospitals through the adoption of more cost-effective medical technologies by physicians.

Francesco's work has attracted widespread global media attention, with over 1,000 citations and extensive interviews across North America, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. His research has been featured in numerous newspapers and magazines, including The Independent, The Times, Metro, Evening Standard, Daily Mail, Daily Express, The Bulletin, Kuwait News, The Egyptian Gazette, Manila Standard, Politics Home, Presa Latina, La Razon, Dossier Politico, Arab News, La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, ANSA, Panorama della Sanità, About-Pharma, Il Giornale, La Stampa, Il Sole 24 Ore, and others.
