At Ca’ Foscari University she has gained previous experience as a lecturer of "Interpretazione dall'italiano alla Lis” (Interpretation from Italian to Italian sign language - Lis) during the 1st level Master Degree program held in Ca’ Foscari University with the title “Teoria e tecniche di traduzione e interpretazione italiano-Lingua dei Segni Italiana (LIS)” (Theory and techniques for the translation and the interpretation from Italian to Italian sign language - LIS). Rita has been teaching in the Master Degree edition of the year 2016/2017 and in previous ones.
She has been a lecturer in several occasions related to the interpretation and mediation in LIS during the FSE course “Tumlis - Mediatore da tutor in Lis” (Tumlis - Mediator as a tutor in Lis), academic year 2005, and in the advanced learning program of “Interpretazione LIS/italiano” (Interpretation LIS/Italian), in the academic year 2006/2007.

Since March 2022, he has been collaborating with the Veneto Regional Council of the National Board of the Deaf.

Since 2005 she has been teaching Deaf Culture in the courses held by Ens or by other institutions and associations (Deafety - ACI Roma). She has been delivering lessons of Sociology and Deaf Culture in trainings for Deaf teachers (ENS Lombardia/Napoli/Piemonte/Emilia Romagna - Gruppo Silis).

Progetto EU -  Coordinator for Siena School for Libera Arts del Progetto Europeo “Sings2go” - Lifelong Learning Programme (Key Action 2: Languages). 2009-2011. The objective of the project was to develop a website, where deaf young people in our countries can learn BSL as a foreign sign language: www.signs2go.eu. Partner coinvolti: Uclan (Uk) – Pragma (Nl) – Statped (No) Hochschule (De) – Siena School For Liberal Arts (It) – 1-2 Communicate (Nl).

From 2008 to 2010 she has been teaching and tutoring the students during the six-month Sociology internship programs at Siena School for Liberal Arts.

In 2006 she taught “Aspetti socio-antropologici della comunità sorda” (Socio-anthropological aspects of the deaf community) within the Master program for interpreters in educational settings at the Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli.

 

In the academic year 2005/2006 she has been Professor of “Linguistica generale - linguistica della Lis” (General linguistics - Lis linguistics) at Università di Trieste, Faculty of Psychology.

In the academic year 2004/2005 she has been a lecturer at Università di Verona, Facoltà di Scienze Motorie. The module she was teaching, namely “Teoria della cultura Sorda” (Theory of Deaf Culture), was an Optional Course on Lis.

From 2005 to 2010 she has been teaching Italian Sign Language - Module 2 and Italian Sign Language 2 - Module 2 at SSLMIT - Università di Trieste.

Since 1996 she has been teaching interpretation techniques in learning programs for interpreters (in Enaip Bologna - Ens Roma/Milano/Torino/Biella - Gruppo Silis Roma- Counselis Napoli - Oppi Milano), for communication assistants (assistenti alla comunicazione) (in Enaip Trieste - Ens/FLC La Spezia, Ens Verona), and in trainings for SL interpreters (in Anios/Siena School).

Since 1992 she is Italian Sign Language Interpreter, working between LIS and Italian in different contexts: formal/informal meetings, conferences and community; in public and private institutions, universities and television programs, both local and national.

 

Since 2010 she has been cooperating with Mason Perkins Deafness Fund.

Since 2007 she has been cooperating with Siena School for Liberal Arts establishing the Department of Deaf Studies, where she also teaches Deaf Culture - Deaf Studies.

Master’s degree in Sociology at Università degli Studi di Padova - Dissertation title "Con-segnami la tua storia: problemi metodologici nelle interviste narrative con persone sorde”. Thesis advisor: prof. Daniele Nigris - Final results: 110/110 cum laude.

She attended the advanced courses “(Corsi di alta formazione ) Giornate non-standard – Scuola di metodologia della ricerca sociale nelle edizioni 2007 - 2008 - 2009 - 2011.

Bachelor’s degree in Sociological Sciences at Università degli Studi di Padova - Dissertation title: “L’interprete di Lingua dei Segni: orecchio per i sordi e voce per gli udenti” - Thesis advisor: prof. Devi Sacchetto - Final results: 106/110.

Scholar at Boston University MA – USA – Fall semester 2004 – Exams (achieved): American Sign Language 1 – History and Deaf Culture – Social Psychology.

In September/November 2007 she was a Visiting Scholar at Gallaudet University (Department of Deaf Studies) and University of New Mexico (Department of Interpreting Studies).
