Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
History of artistic literature I (6 CFU) is the first module of History of artistic literature (12 CFU).
The exam is scheduled among the related or supplementary learning activities of the degree course in Conservation and Management of Cultural Assets and Activities.
Expected learning outcomes
- ability to apply knowledge and understanding: knowledge of how to use the specific vocabulary of the discipline to analyse a text, placing it within its temporal and cultural context.
- judgment ability: capability to elaborate a personal analysis of the texts produced by artists, writers, erudites and amateurs.
- communication skills: knowing how to use an appropriate and specific terminology; to be able to apply a good Italian syntax and grammar.
- learning skills: acquisition of the conceptual and methodological skills necessary for the study of artistic literature; awareness of the evolution of critical judgment about art over the centuries.
Pre-requirements
Knowledge of the Italian language.
An interest in ancient literary texts is desirable.

Assessment methods
The questions may include both open answers and brief comments on the texts analysed in the classroom.
The score for each question, based on the completeness of the answer and argumentative ability, ranges from 0 to 6.
To pass the exam, a mark of 18/30 or higher is required.

B. marks in band 23-26 will be awarded in the presence of:
- discrete knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the syllabus;
- discrete ability to collect and/or interpret data, making autonomous judgements;
- fair communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language.
C. Scores in the 27-30 bracket will be awarded in the presence of:
- good or very good knowledge and applied understanding with reference to the syllabus;
- good or very good ability to collect and/or interpret data, making autonomous judgements;
- fully appropriate communication skills, especially in relation to the use of specific language.
D. Honours will be awarded in the presence of knowledge and ability of applied understanding with reference to the programme, judgement and communication skills, excellent.
