The course is part of the cultural subjects of the curriculum and aims at providing an introduction at the beginnings of Turkish literature exploring the poetry production of Ottoman literati.
1. Knowledge and comprehension
- To understand the social and cultural contexts of Ottoman love poetry
- To learn the rhetorical figures
- To understand the main poetical forms and the most important poets

2. Capacity of application
- To apply the knowledge on the texts
- Capacity to analyze an Ottoman gazel
None. The texts will be provided in Latin transcription, the knowledge of the Arabic alphabet is not necessary.

The student will prepare a beyt (distich) to present at the oral examination, with translation, rhetorical analysis and interpretation.

Independently from the attendance modality, evaluation is expressed by the following assessment scale:
18-22:
- sufficient knowledge and capacity to understand what has been requested according to the course program
- sufficient capacity of application of the acquired knowledge through autonomous text analysis
- sufficient capacity of data collecting and interpretation and of critical judgment

23-26:

27-30:

The grade of excellence ("lode") is assigned in cases of excellent achievements according to the criteria listed above.
Lecture with text analysis and homework.
Students who are not able to attend the classes are requested to contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester.

This subject deals with topics related to the macro-area "Human capital, health, education" and contributes to the achievement of one or more goals of U. N. Agenda for Sustainable Development
