The course is mandatory for students who have not passed the Written Italian Entrance Test. A maximum of three absences is allowed. The course does not give university credits (cfu). The course provides an opportunity to fill language gaps, with particular reference to the areas of grammar, text comprehension and vocabulary knowledge.
Students who attend this course will gain awareness of basic gaps related to the Italian language, particularly in the areas of grammar, text comprehension, and vocabulary needed in order to cope with their course of study.
There are no specific requirements.
- Spelling;
- Punctuation;
- Morphology and syntax;
- Knowledge of the lexicon;
- Register;
- Comprehension of written texts and logical organization of the written text.
Reference materials will be distributed in class by the lecturer. In addition, the following optional materials can be consulted:
- for grammatical doubts see P. Trifone, M. Palermo, Grammatica italiana di base, Bologna, Zanichelli, 2020;
- on the techniques of text comprehension and summarization see L. Serianni, Italiani scritti, Bologna, il Mulino, 2012, cap. 4;
- for training in writing school and academic text types, see L. Cignetti, Il piacere di scrivere: guida all'italiano del terzo millennio, Roma, Carocci, 2017.
The exam will consist in a writing text.
Some mid-term tests are foreseen: the students who have passed all the midterm tests (and who have not done more than three absences) will receive the Eligibility without taking the final exam.
Part-time students (not attending) and those who have not passed one of the elapsed tests, despite having attended, must take the final exam.
