Through a series of seminars led by experts in the field, the course aims to provide in-depth insights into research methods within the realm of educational linguistics, including the presentation of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method studies. The goal is to offer a practical guide to the primary research methods used to investigate the various aspects of foreign/second language teaching and learning, as well as the academic language necessary for data publication, thereby supporting students in fully understanding the process of conducting and disseminating research.
The specific objective of the course is to develop knowledge and understanding of the primary research methods used in language teaching.ù
Students will be able to:
- gain awareness of the main research approaches by analyzing the characteristics of qualitative studies, quantitative studies, and mixed-methods studies, as well as the various data collection tools and data analysis procedures;
- apply the knowledge acquired to their own research projects;
- utilize appropriate academic language for the dissemination of research findings.






Excellent knowledge of the principles of educational linguistics: theories, approaches and teaching methods of language education.

A specific bibliography will be provided during each seminar.
At the end of the course, students are required to submit a written paper that demonstrates the knowledge they have acquired in relation to their own research project.
