COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS

-The learner acquires knowledge about how to distinguish between formal and informal situations: they are able to introduce themselves, give and receive instructions in academic and professional contexts.
-They can express complex emotions and states of mind.
-They possess good conversational skills, being able to express doubts about things, people, events, or others' statements, and to exchange opinions on current political and social issues.
-They know how to talk about a distant past or future, formulating possible and impossible hypotheses.
-They are capable of recounting historical events and describing objects, actions, and people both referentially and emotionally, while also understanding complex texts, grasping any allegorical and humorous aspects.
-Finally, they can reflect on the Italian language and discuss the motivations for learning a language.

UNDERSTANDING AND PRODUCTION OF ORAL AND WRITTEN TEXTS
-Textually, they begin to gain familiarity with formal texts: they can compose medium-length papers and summaries, and understand long monologic oral texts (e.g., university lectures, conferences) and dialogic texts (e.g., university exams and complex conversations with one or more interlocutors).
-They understand the general meaning of bureaucratic texts (such as calls for applications, employment contracts, and police reports), normative texts (e.g., the Constitution of the Italian Republic), and specialized texts (e.g., university manuals for the three-year degree).
-They become familiar with theatrical texts (both prose and lyrical) and with moderately complex poetic texts.
-They gain familiarity with essay and journalistic writing, being able to comprehend excerpts from popular essays and short investigations.

VOCABULARY
-In terms of vocabulary, the learner acquires terms useful for describing people in relation to culture and skills/knowledge.
-They learn the names of less common household objects and the names of main outdoor recreational activities.
-They know the names of the most common musical instruments.
-Additionally, they acquire basic vocabulary related to religion and religious rites.
-In the public sphere, they learn the names of certain adverse events, such as accidents, setbacks, and injuries.
-They become familiar with the vocabulary specific to the Italian political organization and its territorial subdivisions, and learn the names of key professions related to the economic, political, and social fields.
-Finally, they expand their vocabulary related to university life.

A standardized test will be conducted in a multimedia laboratory to assess and evaluate written and oral reception skills.

The written production test may consist of a single assessment or be the result of multiple tasks assigned during the course.

The oral production test will cover general topics and the subjects addressed during the course.
