COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS
- The learner is able to express admiration, surprise, disappointment, and concern.
- Learns to express specific obligations or needs, give simple advice, make suggestions, and schedule appointments.
- Can talk about the near future, making promises and real hypotheses.
- Is able to simply communicate their point of view, comparing people, things, and situations.
- Interpersonally, they learn to engage in brief conversations on common topics, such as the weather.
- Is able to talk about past habits, actions that started in the past and are still ongoing, and, if necessary, to report someone else’s speech.
- Finally, they can understand and provide simple explanations about the Italian language, discussing basic learning strategies.

COMPREHENSION AND PRODUCTION OF ORAL AND WRITTEN TEXTS
- In terms of texts, the learner learns to understand and produce informal texts of a limited length: in writing, they become familiar with written texts (such as emails and cover letters).
- They are able to understand texts that reproduce authentic dialogues (such as simple interviews) and references to future scenarios (such as horoscopes and weather forecasts).
- They begin to familiarize themselves with the literary uses of the language, recognizing rhymes and other sound figures found in nursery rhymes and short, uncomplicated poems.
- They start getting acquainted with simple metalinguistic texts (dictionary entries, children's encyclopedias, and grammar cards).

VOCABULARY
- On a lexical level, the learner acquires the most common terms to describe people in relation to their character and socio-economic status.
- Learns basic vocabulary related to body parts and common ailments.
- In the domestic sphere, they learn words referring to household appliances and specific utensils, dishes, and the main actions required in cooking.
- They also begin to learn basic sports-related vocabulary.
- In the public sphere, they acquire the names of the main Italian cities, regions, major cultural landmarks, as well as some terms related to public security.
- They also learn the names of the main units of weight, capacity, and length used in the country.
- Finally, regarding the educational sphere, they acquire the names of the levels of school education and the main activities carried out at the University and in student life.

A standardized test will be conducted in a multimedia laboratory to assess and evaluate written and oral reception skills.

The written production test may consist of a single assessment or be the result of multiple tasks assigned during the course.

The oral production test will cover general topics and the subjects addressed during the course.
