The Legal Institution Minor aims to provide a basic knowledge of the legal systems of East Asia, with specific reference to China one. After a general introduction on comparative law in general and on the historical roots of the "Confucian" legal systems, the course will focus on some aspects of contemporary Asian law in a multidisciplinary perspective.
Acquisition of basic knowledge concerning the main legal principles of international law and Asian legal systems. Through individual or group works, students will acquire skills in some monographic topics like the relation between Asian law and individual rights, the relation between law and (global and regional) foreign relations and between law and technological innovation.
Knowledge of English language
The course will be virtually divided into three parts: 1) introduction to comparative law; 2) Asian legal systems; 3) single topic lectures (rule of law, international relations and law, technological innovation and law).
Materials
Learning will be assessed through a final written exam, open book.
Active participation in class, individual or group assignments and intermediate tests will also be taken in consideration.
The minor program will be structured and developed in order to facilitate an active participation of the class through lectures, seminars and small group work, experts invited to give a talk.
