The course is part of the foundational training activities of the Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences and Social Work, and it aims to provide practical experience related to what was learned in the Social Work Methodology 1 classes. The course seeks to stimulate a critical, reflective, and practical perspective on social project design, programming, and social service evaluation.
At the end of the workshop, the student will be able to combine theory and practice for a professional understanding of the expressed and underlying needs of individuals seeking services. They will possess expertise in social programming and evaluation culture.

Students will be able to assess and formulate hypotheses for personalized project design. By the end of the course, they should be familiar with the main theoretical approaches to evaluation, design, and social programming. They will be capable of constructing an evaluative framework for social services and monitoring it through to the conclusion of the evaluation process. They should be able to reference the main orientations and theoretical models in social service programming and social policies. They will acquire cross-disciplinary knowledge that enhances their ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, drawing on case studies presented in class as well as critically revisiting their internship experiences.

For this course, it is strongly recommended to have passed the exam on Social Work Theories.
The goal is to create, through dialectical and interactive learning, spaces for reflection that help understand and integrate “knowing,” “being,” and “doing.” Special attention will be given to service programming within the context of policies, as well as the construction, drafting, and coordination of social projects. Evaluation tools in social work will be implemented, viewing evaluation as a necessary process to foster learning and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of interventions.
In relation to the following texts, they will not be part of the examination, but it is recommended for further understanding of the topics covered:

-Bertotti T., Fazzi L., Rosignoli A. (2024) “Il servizio sociale: le competenze chiave”, Carocci, Roma;
Moro G., (2011) “La valutazione possibile. Metodi e casi”, FrancoAngeli, Milano;
Merlo G., (2014) “La programmazione sociale. Principi, metodi e strumenti”, Carocci Faber, Roma
Palumbo M., (2001) “Il processo di valutazione. decidere, programmare , valutare” FrancoAngeli, Milano

Further excerpts from original texts will be communicated later on the Moodle platform and will be required readings for participation in the exercises.
There is no exam of the Laboratory of Methods and Techniques of the Social Service I, but only a single exam that will be taken with the Professor who teaches the subject.
The course consists of lectures and laboratory activities to actively engage students. Additional readings, exercises and discussion topics will be assigned for individual or group preparation and in-class discussion. Regular attendance and active participation in these sessions are highly recommended.
