The objective of the course is to provide the basic knowledge necessary to master the different modes of communication, adapting them to the type of interlocutor and the media used. The methodologies illustrated during the course, which can be adopted in any circumstance and with any type of media and audience, can be used in the scientific and economic fields as well as in different areas of professional specialization.
At the end of the three modules students will be able both to write articles with a popular slant based on their specific knowledge (scientific, economic and other) and to give interviews or participate in seminars and programs by adapting the communication style to the media used (paper, web, radio, TV, social) and the audience reached.
No prior knowledge required.
The print media: the main differences between generalist and specialized communication. How to correctly and effectively interpret the role of author or interviewee.
The radio-television world, the web, social media: modes and methods of communication in the presence of an audience (for example, in a television studio), or in the absence of immediate feedback from the audience (audio and audio-video recordings, participation in programs without an audience).
The web and integrated communication: knowing how to handle different languages and information tools while making the most of their specific potential.
Social media: types and modes of communication. How to choose the channels best suited to the message you want to convey. Risks and opportunities of direct interaction with the general public.
Multichannel or choosing the most suitable channels: knowing how to recognize the audience you want to reach in order to avoid the risks of too extensive and ineffective communication.
Achievement of learning objectives will be assessed on the basis of participation in group work activities and exercises assigned in class, as well as through a final written and oral examination.

The final examination, both written and oral, will be similar to the periodic assignments given in class during individual or group work. No notes, lecture materials or electronic media will be allowed during the exam.

Students will be able to accumulate bonus points by participating in the exercises offered in class. The total thus obtained will be added to the final exam grade.
Seminars and individual and group work. Writing and analysis of journalistic texts, programs and audio and video interviews, based on scientific, economic and general topics. Simulations of real situations. Guest seminars.
