Provide basic scientific knowledge on wave phenomena and show how the development of knowledge on human auditory perception is reflected in different fields, ranging from art to technology.
The student will understand the physical aspects of sounds, their sensory perception and their processing in music, the mechanisms of sound perception, how sound impulses are interpreted by the brain. The student will be able to interpret how a sound is perceived depending on the context in which the observer is located.
Knowledge of the main concepts of arithmetic, algebra and trigonometry (at the secondary school level).
The physics of waves. What is sound, how waves interact with matter and get modified. The human perception of sound. The music and musical instruments.

The exam is an oral exam. During the exam, the candidate will present a topic of his/her choice, then he/she will have to develop a theme proposed by the teacher. The grade is composed of the sum of the scores in the following categories: clarity of presentation 0 - 5 points, relevance of the topic chosen to the course 0 - 5 points, level of depth of the path developed by the student 0 - 10 points, ability to organically connect different topics covered by the course 0 - 5 points, questions from the teacher 0 - 5 points. The exam lasts approximately 20 minutes.
Teaching is organized in frontal theoretical lectures and through small experiments, videos and images.
