The situation that the Planet is now facing requires for a new sustainability paradigm, from the classic view of three spheres (economic, social and environmental), to a integrated perspective. All this calls for the shifts towards new conceptual models and a strong interdisciplinarity. The latter will be key issue of the class, that will try to demonstrate how only collecting concepts from quite different disciplines it would be possible to cope with the present global crisis.
The aim of the class is to give the tools for understanding what are the key-elements when facing with unsustainability issues, offering new cognitive approaches for finding innovative solutions. Moreover, it will be offered the opportunity to confront with Ca’ Foscari researchers, with different cultural backgrounds, directly involved in research activities related with sustainability issues.
No specific prerequisites requested
The anthropological bases of the sustainability (or better unsustainability) issue; analysis of different approaches and the need to mode towards a new paradigm of integrated sustainability. The sustainability issue in different disciplines. Environmental, social and economic sustainability. Cultural, historical and ethic elements related to the concept development. Researchers from the Ca’ Foscari University will share the declination of the sustainability issue, in relation to their different cultural background
Scientific papers of specific issues will be used
The final exam consists in the discussion of an issue developed during the course, according with the collegues in charge for the other modules
