The Gnoseology course, in the theoretical area, deals in particular with issues connected to the theory of knowledge developed in the modern age, constantly referring to the themes evoked by classical thought and the results of contemporary philosophical reflection. During the course, priority is given to analytical work on texts, the exhibition of argumentative strategies and the clarification of speculative terms devised by thinkers who have grappled with the question of the possibility and limits of knowledge.
General knowledge of the fundamental themes and problems of epistemology, in relation to the fundamental junctions of the Western philosophical tradition and the developments determined by the contemporary debate;
General knowledge and understanding of some important classic texts of Western epistemology
Knowledge of the fundamental argumentative strategies relating to the theoretical dimension of philosophical experience, with particular attention to the vocabulary, categories and definition of the different areas of speculative investigation.
Ability to deal with a philosophical text, favoring the theoretical approach
Ability to analyse, understand, and discuss the underlying reasons for philosophical problem areas, also in relation to their practical consequences
Basic knowledge of the history of philosophy
In the general part of the course, students will be introduced to the more general questions of epistemology and the classical positions on the topic. In the monographic part, students will be introduced to the phenomenological approach to knowledge through the reading of some parts of Edmund Husserl's Logical Investigations.

Oral exam, which will focus on knowledge of the assigned parts of the reference books and the ability to engage critically with the theses supported by the authors studied
During the lessons, we will favor an approach based on a close dialogue with the texts, on students' ability both to produce examples of the definitions proposed by the authors and to consider criticisms of their views
