The course refers to supplementary teaching and contributes to training in the field of business and management with particular reference to cultural institutions (private, public and non-profit), as it provides the basic concepts and language useful for interpreting business and managerial phenomena, understanding the role and characteristics of businesses in their various configurations, and describing operational activities. A specific part of the course is devoted to the analysis of cultural organizations, using the methodology and tools of business administration and management.

1 KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Students’ will know and be able to understand:
- the role of business entities in the economic activity;
- the relationship among economic and business phenomena;
- the typology of business entities and their main characteristics;
- the main activities performed by business entities and within business entities;
- the relationship between business activities and performance;
2 ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE IN THE FIELD OF CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS
- interpret the real economic phenomena of cultural institutions in the light of the concepts and models of business economics;
- to understand the essential characteristics dedalee companies operating in the context of culture, beyond their different nature.
As this is an introductory course to Business Management and Accounting, no specific prior knowledge is required.

The examination consists of a written test. with open and closed questions each of which has a specific score. closed questions are normally multiple-choice or can be of the true/false type.
In addition, an assignment is optionally provided for before the test takes place, subject to prior notice and approval.
The written test has a duration of 45 minutes
Teaching method is based on lectures addressing the relevant concepts and applying them through the examination and discussion of real business cases in the cultural context.
