The course is complementary to the other course of the degree: it provides the student with the basic knowledge of industrial economics and policy. In particular, the course will focus on the different types of firms, industrial policy, the theoretical debate and the national and international practices. Particular attention will be given to the objectives, targets and instruments of industrial policy. Furthermore, a specific focus will be offered on the sustainability of the structural changes of economies and on the role of industrial policy in this sense.

- understand the evolution of theory and debate around industrial policy

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
- ability to frame case studies in the theoretical reference framework provided

- know how to distinguish the different types of industrial policy
- ability to highlight the advantages and challenges deriving from the use of industrial policy
- ability to read industrial policy in relation to the sustainability of structural changes

- being able to critically evaluate the debate on industrial policy
- knowing how to suggest interventions to support the organization of the production system

4. Communication skills
- students will be able to exercise their ability to present and discuss scientific works - theoretical or applied - on the topics discussed in class by participating to the laboratories

The course is offered in blended mode with some content provided online. The course includes lectures and workshops with presentation and discussion of study materials/case studies (workshops only for attending students).
