The course belongs to the characterizing teaching activities of the Master's Degree Programmes in Philosophical sciences, placing itself within the teachings of the historical-philosophical area. The educational objective of the course is to provide knowledge related to the history of modern and contemporary philosophy (with particular attention to the season of German Idealism and to contemporary philosophy, as developed after the conclusion of the Hegelian system). At the end of the course the student's understanding and knowledge is expected to analyze and interpret complex philosophical texts, to be able to take a critically conscious attitude, to write a paper in an appropriate philosophical language, to discuss interacting with other students, around authors, ideas and philosophical problems.
At the end of the course the students:
1) should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the themes of modern and contemporary philosophy;
2) should have the ability to read and analize in argumentative and critical way complex philosophical texts;
3) could communicate and discuss ideas and philosophical problems.
Knowledge of History of modern and contemporary philosophy and, in particular, of Kantian philosophy.
During the course, a general knowledge of the Critique of Pure Reason will be assumed (a manual-level understanding will be sufficient). Recordings of the lectures dedicated by the professor to the Critique of Pure Reason in the institutional History of Philosophy courses (undergraduate level) are made available to all students on Moodle. It is recommended to watch these lectures, especially for those who did not attend the History of Philosophy undergraduate course.
Kant's Relevance. The Critique of Pure Reason in the light of contemporary thought.
The course aims to investigate the Critique of Pure Reason, presenting both its historical limitis and its contemporary relevance.

The evaluation will be based on a oral exam. Students must:
1) demonstrate general knowledge of the themes of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason;
2) be able to understand and comment on the fundamental passages of the Kantian text.
