The course is part of the Master's Degree Program in Economics and Management of Arts and Cultural Activities that offers research methodologies and professional approaches to the management of the arts. It develops and broaden some topics already faced on the first part of the course (a basic knowledge of contemporary theatre, live art and dance, a range of theatre and performance theories and practices and of audience response, developing of critical skills), focusing on intermedia, the relationships with sound and video, the current processes of indipendent production.
Students are invited to relate the contents of the course to the forst part of it and their eentire curriculum and, in particular, to situate theater, dance and live arts in the broader context of the contemporary arts and cultural heritage, as well as in the context of production. Students are expected to be able to take notes in class and to express, in their required final paper, clear and well-argued points the contents of the course using specific terminology.

The course provides a detailed analisys of contemporary theatre, live arts and dance as forms of cultural heritage and introduces to a wide range of theatre and performance theories and practices. Each class offers a selection of video-recorded theatre and dance pieces and live arts performances as the starting point to analyze different models of production and artistic evolution. Some lessons will offer a perspective about residencies practices and some aspects of musical theatre. For students unable to attend the syllabus is the same and a meeting with the professor is necessary to agree upon the topic of the final paper.

In any case, the final exam will evaluate if the students have acquired the knowledge delivered in the course, their argumentative skills, their ability to communicate the different positions with critical awareness as well as their capacity to apply the contents of the course to the relevant contexts.
