The course is part of the related and supplementary courses of the master's degree course in “EGART”. Awareness of historical practice and theories on Museums and their restoration contribute to the improvement of the transversal skills of the learners in the historical-artistic and curatorial fields.
The 12-credit Museology for Curatorship exam consists of two parts each of 6 credits. The second part of this course is entrusted to an other Professor who will hold the course in the fourth period. The student matures the 12 credits with the passing of two partial exams, each relating to a part of the course. The final grade comes from the average of the two grades obtained by passing the two partial tests. The exams of both parties must be passed in the same academic year under penalty of forfeiture of the 6 credits accrued.
-Awareness of the main theoretical issues concerning the discipline;
-improvement of a critical approach to primary and secondary sources;
-improvement of a critical approach to Museums and their display;
-ability to do research and to communicate results.
A basic knowledge in History of Western Art would be desiderable.
1) An overlook on Museology as academic discipline

2) The history of exhibitions according to the typological criterion in relation to European history and society 17th century to first half of 20th.

2) A laboratory section on a subject about the exhibition display: public speaking of a group work (ONLY ATTENDING STUDENTS)

ORAL EXAMINATION
The oral exam is aimed at verifying
• The acquisition of disciplinary contents;
• Mastery of a specific vocabulary;
• The ability to argue and critically re-elaborate contents;
• The development of a global vision of the discipline.

ORAL EXAM METHOD: the candidate is required to answer three questions on three topics of the program, each answer is assigned a score from 0 to 10 (for each question the following will be evaluated by the Teacher: The acquisition of disciplinary contents: 3 points / The mastery of a specific vocabulary: 3 points/ The ability to argue and critically re-elaborate the contents: 3 points/ The maturation of a global vision of the discipline: 1 point)
the final grade comes from the sum of the three scores.
'Lode' (Distinction) is a plus at the discretion of the teacher.
Participation in group work (only for those attending) contributes to the FINAL MARK TO THE EXTENT OF 20% without, however, jeopardizing the possibility of obtaining the maximum score even for those who cannot attend the lessons/are not interested in taking part. to the laboratory section of the course.
Non-attending students
Non-attending students are evaluated ONLY on the basis of the final oral exam, they DO NOT prepare a seminar presentation.

It is strongly recommended to participate in the 'Officina della Critica' series of specialized seminars organized by the professors with external guests.
