STRATIGRAPHIC CORRELATION IN POLAR AREAS

This course is to familiarize the student with the principles and techniques of stratigraphy in polar areas. The student should be able to understand the underlying principles in the study of stratigraphic record, chrono – and litho – stratigraphy and the concept of lithofacies and biofacies.
The course provides insight into the Late Quaternary stratigraphic problems introducing important methods in the fields of stratigraphy, and geochronology and how these can be applied to correlate sediment marine cores.
