This is one of the electives courses within the Cina/Japan/Korea curricula of the Corso di Laurea in "Lingue, Culture e Società dell'Asia e dell'Africa Mediterranea" (economic-legal track). The course is aimed at providing a basic introduction to the main legal systems of East Asia in an historical-comparative perspective. Specific attention is devoted to Chinese and Japanese systems, but also the Korean and South-east Asian legal environment is broadly described.
By attending the course, students will acquire a set of basic notions on East Asian legal systems and will be able to frame their linguistic and cultural studies within an appropriate institutional contest
The course has no pre-requirements
The course is an introduction to contemporary legal institutions of Asia, with specific reference to China, Japan and Korea. Specific attention will be devoted to Asian legal history and theory, constitutional organization and civil and commercial law
