Contribution of the course to the overall degree programme goals
By the end of the course, students will be able to read and analyze complex texts and effectively engage in various communicative contexts. The course includes an in-depth exploration of advanced Korean grammatical structures, conducted in coordination with language practice sessions led in parallel by language experts (CEL).
Expected learning outcomes
Specifically, the acquired competencies will include:
Knowledge and understanding
• Knowing the key phrases necessary to interact in communicative contexts that require knowledge of sector-specific languages related to the humanities.
• Having a solid understanding of the complex grammatical system of modern Korean.
• Knowing an advanced lexicon that includes terms from sector-specific languages related to the humanities.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
• Being able to correctly use the key phrases necessary for interacting in communicative contexts requiring knowledge of sector-specific languages related to the humanities.
• Being able to understand texts on topics related to the humanities.
• Being able to use an advanced lexicon in writing, including terms from sector-specific languages related to the humanities.
• Being able to correctly understand Korean sentences containing complex grammatical structures.
Judgment skills
• Being able to assess the level of their own linguistic knowledge, skills, and competences.
Communication skills
• Being able to communicate the specifics of linguistic and textual analysis, using appropriate terminology.
Learning skills
• Being able to relate different study contexts and apply their knowledge, skills, and abilities for personal and professional growth.
• Being able to handle original language texts with sufficient familiarity and mastery.
Looking for a correspondence with the TOPIK levels, at the beginning the students may be positioned at an initial level 5, while at the end they will have developed language skills at a full 5+/6 level. Based on the evaluation parameters set by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the students' proficiency will shift from an initial level C1 to an initial C2 level upon completion

Assessment methods
1) Written test:
- 90 minutes for grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing (part of the Korean Language 1 Mod 2 exercises).
- Multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions on the course syllabus.
- The total score is 30 points (the average between 30 points for grammar and 30 points for exercises).
2) Oral test:
- Those who have passed the written exam can take the oral exam.
- The oral exam is an interview with the professors regarding the course content.

Further information
The grade obtained in part I (Mod 1) will be valid until the completion of part II (Mod 2) no later than the first exam session in January of the following year. If part II (Mod 2) is not passed in the first January session, the student will need to retake the exam for part I (Mod 1) and may do so starting from the second January exam session.
