This course provides an introduction to the field of ecolinguistics in general, with a focus on the question of how language construes our view of nature and environment.
Students will be guided to reflect on the link between language and ecology. They will also learn about the criticism of forms of language that contribute to ecological destruction and the search for new forms of language that inspire people to protect the natural world.
Enrollment in the MA Programme in Environmental Humanities.
This course discusses how linguistic analysis can reveal different "stories" (cognitive structures in the minds of individuals which influence how they think, talk, and act) relevant to ecological protection.
