Building on the course-structured cultural training that was typical of the first and the second year of the Minor in Sustainability, this laboratory offers a multi-faceted context where to experiment with the multiple aspects of strong sustainability.
The participants will have further developed their critical and original approach to theoretical and practical aspects of strong sustainability, being able to recognise deceptive narratives, to build new and more suitable narratives, and to engage with possible proposals to imagine some operational paths towards a less unsustainable world, or even just a community, including the related spatial implications, be them urban, rural, or something other than such a dichotomy.
Fruitful completion of the first and the second year of the Minor programme in Sustainability. Willingness to experiment with new forms of learning and sharing.
The lab is experimental since participants are invited to collaboratively de-construct and re-construct course structures, formats, contents, and ongoing and final appraisal (including grading). The first planned stimuli will take the form of directed readings, but topics will be progressively co-proposed by each and every participant, and discussed altogether.
The materials, including a wide variety of media (scientific papers; books; institutional reports, plans, and programmes; videos; data; non-institutional material; etc.) will be progressively made available to the participants, and prospectively also BY them.
The ongoing and final appraisal of the targets that will be set and hopefully reached, also taking the form of grades, will build on criteria that are themselves part of the experimental features of this lab, hence participatorily discussed and co-designed at the beginning of the course. Written and (especially) oral forms will be both considered.
Directed readings + experimental participatory methods, tailored on and refined with participants.
written and oral
