As part of the curriculum of Literature and Culture of the Laurea triennale in Lingue, Civiltà e Scienze del Linguaggio. This course aims to provide students a broad understanding of the historical and cultural context and literary production in Spain of the Golden Age.
1. Knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding of Spain's literary history with special attention to the Golden Age;
Knowledge and undestanding of the literary genres;
Knowledge to read, traslate and analyse critically texts in spanish languages of the Golden Age;

Capacity to apply the critical notions to analyse literary texts (poetry, narrative and theatre);

The assessment of learning is carried out in two ways:
The assessment of learning is carried out in two ways:
1. A written exam (in Italian or Spanish) that consists of analyzing and commenting on four literary excerpts (1 from poetry, 2 from prose, and 1 from drama). This exam assesses the student's ability to place the literary text within its context (literary genre and period), as well as their ability to critically apply analytical tools according to the literary genre (poetry, prose, and drama).
2. An oral exam of approximately 20 minutes (in Italian or English) will cover three topics discussed during the course. Questions will be asked about the materials uploaded on Moodle and the reading of the texts. The grading scale is based on: Knowledge of the required topics (up to 15 points); Ability to explore the topic in depth (up to 10 points); Ability to articulate an independent argument (up to 5 points).
Note:
Breakdown of the 4 excerpts: 1 from poetry, 2 from prose (Lazarillo and Cervantes), and 1 from drama (Lope de Vega).
The first exam (written work) will take place before the oral exam, and the review will occur during the oral exam.
The course consists of theoretical and practical lessons (analysis of literary texts). During the lessons, the students have to participate actively preparing the texts analysis.
