The first module of the course aims to provide students with a set of measures, concepts and methodological tools necessary for analysing the interchange of goods and services, as well as the international mobility of production factors, as fundamental elements in the development of modern economies. The student of Foreign Trade will thus have a framework of knowledge to understand the economic rationale of international trade, the drivers and consequences of trade-restricting policies, the evolution of different forms of international organisation of production and the international mobility of human capital.
Students will be able to understand the main patterns of international trade, the function and impacts of trade policies, emerging forms of international organisation of production and migration processes, and the role of the most important multilateral institutions.
Pre-requisite of the Course is Political Economics. Will be also useful for the understanding of the main topics of the course the basic knowledge of mathematical and statistical analysis, as well as the fundamental concepts of Macroeconomics and Economic Policy.
