Expected learning outcomes
Phonological and morphological structures of Spanish and Latin American language.
Linguistic competence in Spanish and Latin American language at B1 CEFR level.
2. Applying knowledge and understanding
Ability to recognize and describe the main phonetic, phonological, graphic and morphological units of Spanish; ability to represent sounds and phonemes by means of transcription systems; ability to carry out syllabic and morphological segmentation; ability to use derivational patterns for word-formation; ability to interact in communicative situations on a B1 CEFR level; ability to understand and produce oral and written texts at B1 CEFR level.
3. Making judgments
Ability to make grammaticality and correctness judgements, relying on linguistic reflexion; ability to retrieve bibliographical sources suggested by the lecturer; ability to make basic use of electronic resources devised for phonological and morphological study; ability to display communication skills on a B1 level.
4. Communication skills
Ability to explain on a basic level contrastive differences between phonological and morphological structures on Spanish and Italian; ability to make use of linguistic terminology to describe phonological and morphological phenomena of Spanish and Latin American language; ability to interact in Spanish and Latin American language in communicative situations at a B1 CEFR level; ability to put into practice linguistic competence at a B1 level in order to present issues raised during the metalinguistic module.
5. Learning skills
Basic ability to self-assess acquisition of metalinguistic contents as well as linguistic competence of Spanish and Latin American language; ability to implement foreground knowledge to move forward onto the following course (Lingua Spagnola 2).

Assessment methods
- a written part (i) consisting of a multiple choice cloze test or gap-filling for assessing linguistic competence (B1) (40% of the final mark);
- a written part (ii) consisting of open questions, multiple choice and gap filling cloze for assessing the knwoledge the metalinguistic competence in phonetics, phonology and morphology of Spanish as well as written skils (60% of the final mark).
Both parts are scheduled in the same day.
Duration (part i + part ii): 100 minutes.
In order t o get an overall pass in Lingua Spagnola 1 (LT0061) or Lingua Ispano-americana 1 (LT006Q), students must:
- get a mark equal to or greater than 60% in the written part (i);
- get a mark equal to or greater than 60% in the written part (ii).
No partial marks will be maintained for the following exam sessions.
Students holding a DELE certificate of B1 level (or higher) are not required to take the written part (i) on linguistic competence, on the conditions that i) the date of the exam is at the latest two years prior to the date in which the certificate was obtained ii) they provide the lecturer with a paper or electronic copy (both sides) of the certificate. No other certificates shall be accepted.
