Its educational objectives fall within the area of learning language skills, as well as cultural and humanities.
Welcome to the Vietnamese Language 2 course, designed for learners who have completed the A1 level or possess equivalent knowledge of Vietnamese. This course will propel your language skills to an intermediate level, aligning with the A2 proficiency level as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Whether you are continuing your language learning journey or have achieved a basic proficiency, this course will help you foster your Vietnamese communication abilities significantly.
Lingua Vietnamita 1 (or equivalent proficiency)
By the end of this course, you will have significantly enhanced your linguistic competence in Vietnamese, enabling you to engage in more complex and nuanced communication. Additionally, you will possess a deeper appreciation of Vietnamese culture, allowing you to navigate cultural intricacies and communicate effectively with native speakers. This course marks a significant step in your journey toward advanced proficiency in the Vietnamese language and cultural understanding.

Upon completion of this Vietnamese course, students will have achieved the following objectives:
- Interpretative Communication:
• Listening Skills: Improve your ability to understand spoken Vietnamese in various everyday contexts, including dialogues, interviews, and short narratives, even at a regular pace.
• Reading Skills: Enhance your reading comprehension across a range of topics, such as news articles, short stories, and informative materials. Extract essential information and recognize varying perspectives.
- Interpersonal Communication:
• Speaking Skills: Advance your conversational fluency, enabling you to engage in more detailed discussions on diverse subjects. Express opinions, provide justifications, and navigate social interactions confidently.
• Writing Skills: Develop the capability to write coherent, structured texts, including longer emails, essays, and formal letters. Communicate information, arguments, and narratives effectively.
- Presentational Communication:
• Speaking Presentations: Deliver clear, organized spoken presentations on various topics, including personal experiences, interests, and opinions.
• Writing Presentations: Create detailed written compositions and reports on topics of general interest, using relevant details and examples.
- Intercultural Communication:
• Understanding Culture: Deepen your understanding of Vietnamese culture, customs, and societal norms. Recognize and appreciate cultural nuances, applying this knowledge in diverse cultural contexts.
• Cultural Awareness: Interact confidently with native speakers from Vietnam, demonstrating an understanding of cultural differences and employing appropriate etiquette in various situations.

The partial written exam: 60%
The final oral exam: 40%

The evaluation criteria for this course are as follows: The partial written exam accounts for 60% of the total grade, while the final oral exam contributes 40%. Together, they make up the complete 100% assessment.

The written examination has a duration of 60 minutes, while the oral examination spans 15-20 minutes, adjusting based on the number of students undertaking the assessment.

- Audio and Written Journal (Highly Recommended): We encourage each one of you to maintain a weekly journal that includes both spoken and written entries. You can record an audio file and also jot down a short written entry.

- In-Class Speaking (Highly Recommended): Every week during our class sessions, you will have the opportunity to engage in short conversations with your classmates. This interactive exercise will help you improve your conversational skills and boost your confidence in speaking the language.
- Presentation Project (Highly Recommended): We strongly encourage you to collaborate with your peers on a presentation project. Your task is to create a video. Don't hesitate to let your creativity shine! Feel free to use visual aids such as videos and pictures, or even incorporate physical demonstrations like role-plays or mini dramas to illustrate your points. This project not only hones your presentation skills but also allows you to explore the language in a dynamic and engaging way.

Remember, these activities are not compulsory, but we highly recommend them for an enriching and immersive language learning experience. Have fun, get creative, and enjoy the process of learning together!
