The course is inserted between the basic disciplines of the degree course “ Conservazione e gestione delle arti e dei beni culturali” and aims to provide an adequate critical knowledge of Italian literature and the fundamental tools for the textual interpretation. The teaching activity aims to start an analysis historically and philologically aware of the literary texts, founded on the mastery of the technical language.
The achievement of these educational objectives allows the student to acquire the foundations for an in-depth learning of ancient Italian culture and literature, developing the ability to compare and evaluate.
At the end of the course the student will know the historical and cultural context of the Italian literary civilization of the first centuries and will be able to correctly use a basic specialist vocabulary. They will be able to understand, analyze and interpret the literary texts covered by the course with the appropriate methods and tools, to identify and examine themes, arguments and ideas developed by the authors covered, to organize the contents in appropriate syntheses by making comparisons between the texts, to formulate a reasoned value judgment. He will have acquired in terms of language and literature skills: Historical roots and evolution of the Italian language in the Middle Ages; - relationship between language and literature, literary language and the languages of science and technology; Communication techniques, Communicative characteristics of a multimedia text; Recognize the historical-cultural lines of development of the Italian language. They will also have acquired fundamental characteristics of the arts and architecture; relationship between literature and other cultural expressions.
The project requires the realization of the knowledge foreseen in the point (expected learning outcomes) for the realization of the skills. These prerequisites have been verified and the project has been agreed with the students


The teaching will be dedicated to the lines of development of Italian literature from its origins to the Renaissance. Enhancing the connections between art, music, mathematics, history and literary production, Yes
will highlight the main authors of the period in question, whose poetics, literary production and links with the historical-cultural climate of reference will be analysed, giving space to the analysis of significant texts, both in prose and poetry. The course will conclude with a focus on the description of some traits of the Divine Comedy in particular on the recursive technique for the recognition of Sentiment analysis in a quantum calculation
For the history of Italian literature from its origins to the Renaissance we recommend: G. Alfano, P. Italia, E. Russo, F. Tomasi, “Profilo di literary italiana”, Milan, Mondadori, 2021 (from era 1 to era 5 included). Alternatively, keeping track of the authors and the issues covered in the recommended volume, you can use any good manual.
The reference texts will be inserted on the University Moodle platform and will be included in the topic of the module which will be analyzed during the lessons and which will constitute, together with the manual, an integral part of the exam programme. For each lesson, the teacher will provide an advance recording and summary of the lesson, as well as a translation into the chosen language(English, Chinese)
Oral exam, which aims at testing students’ knowledge of both the main authors and works of Italian literature, from its origins to the Renaissance. Students who attended the lectures will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge of the themes and texts analysed in class, combining the notions that they have learned during the course with what they have learned from the assigned readings. Students who cannot attend will have to show their knowledge of the texts, the manual, and the supplementary bibliography. All students will be evaluated also according to their ability to employ a proper vocabulary and to detect connections between literature and contemporary historical and cultural contexts.


IMPORTANT! Students whose study plan includes the 12 cfu exam, will take a single oral exam that include the programme of both the first and second module (the exam can be taken starting from the 2024 summer session).
Lectures with active student participation. Literary texts and other didactic material, which have to be studied for the final exam, will be made available on the e-learning platform (Moodle).
The teacher has agreed on the educational project with the students present in the classroom and undertakes to provide the materials, useful for the study which, in order to avoid frenetic typing in the classroom in moodle, provides everyone with a note-taking corner and paper supports. drafting and translating lessons, as well as graphs, concept maps, etc.
