The course of Hispanic-American Language 1 belongs to the activities of the Bachelor in "Languages, Civilizations and Language Sciences." The course consists of a theoretical module
(II semester) and in language practices (full year). The main purpose of the course is to develop and strengthen the language skills in Hispanic-American Language as described by level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In addition, the course aims to provide students with an understanding of the linguistic characteristics of Hispanic-American varieties in
a diachronic and synchronic perspective.
At the end of the course students will be able to:
- Know the Hispanic-American Language at the B2 level of the CEFR;
- Know the main features of the Hispanic-American Language and be able to identify and describe them;
- Develop judgment skills in relation with the course contents;
- Develop skills in individual processing, classroom interaction and independent comprehension of academic articles.
Possess a B1 level of Hispanic-American or Spanish language.

- Phonetics and Phonology
- Morphology and syntax
- Lexicon
- Phenomena of contact with indigenous languages
- Detailed study of some variants

Practices (full year):
Grammatical, phonetic-graphic, lexical, textual content and functional exponents of the Hispanic-American language (CEFR level B2).

The assessment will be through a written test (60 minutes) and an oral test.
The written test, consisting of multiple-choice and gap-filling exercises, aims to verify the achievement of the required language competence (B2).
Students who pass the written test will be required to take the oral test, which aims to verify the learning of the module content.
The final grade will be the average of the marks from both tests.

A student holding a DELE certification of the required level (B2) or higher, obtained no more than two years prior to the date of the exam, will be required to take only the oral test. The student is required to give the teacher a copy of the certificate before the exam. The grade obtained in the DELE certification (expressed in hundredths) will be converted into thirtieths, regardless of the level of the certification.
