The course of Avviamento alla traduzione editoriale, settoriale spagnola becomes a compulsory subject of the Mediazione lingüística e culturale programm. General teaching objectives are twofold: 1) to know the basics of translation studies and the profession of translator and language mediator; and 2) to describe the characterizing properties of the Spanish sectorial language with emphasis on five specialized areas: academic and scientific discourse; discourse in advertising and media; economic discourse; legal-administrative discourse; and tourism.
The first part of the course focuses on providing students with the basics of translation, such as types of translation, translation errors and problems, methods, strategies and techniques. Fort he second part, in each of the treated areas the specific language is described in a theoretical and practical way: linguistic properties (syntactic and lexical, textual and discorsive), sociolinguistic and pragmatic contexts and characteristic discursive genres. Its relationship with general Spanish will also be observed. The course is aimed at introducing students to the translation of the sectorial languages of Spanish and enabling them to become acquainted with variations in written-oral, formal-informal register. In addition, the student should become aware of the factors that condition the translator's decisions.

- Demonstrate communicative competence within the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;
- Identify the guidelines on which the translator can base his or her choices;
- Recognize the characteristics that define a discursive genre;
- Differentiate the prototypical characteristics of each specialty language at all linguistic levels (morphosyntactic, lexical, sociopragmatic);
- Translate short specialized texts of different fields.
- Produce language mediation of multimodal texts according to the criteria defined in the CEFR 2018 Supplementary Volume

- Develop a critical judgment of the difficulties related to specialized translation adapted to the needs of a B2 level of Spanish.

Verification of learning will take place through a 120-minute written test consisting of two parts: 1) Theoretical questions on the topics presented during the course; 2) Translation test of a semi-specialist text of about 300 words.
