The course represents a fundamental component within the Master's degree program in Language Sciences, with a specific focus on educational linguistics, providing students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of digital education.
Incorporating concepts from narrative pedagogy and media education, which recognize narration as a socio-cognitive culturally-mediated device in human development, the course aims to provide both theoretical and practical foundations on the role and functions of narration in learning and teaching processes, both in formal and informal educational contexts.
The course is divided into two parts: in the first part, students are introduced to the impact of digital media on the educational development of children and adolescents, exploring the fundamental role of narration in cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural processes, in both formal and informal contexts. The second part of the course involves practical workshops on educational design and teaching focused on digital narration.
1. Knowledge and Understanding: Students will acquire a solid understanding of learning theories, narrative pedagogy, and media education, as well as the role of storytelling in educational processes. They will be able to comprehend the implications of digital media on the education of children and adolescents, as well as the importance of storytelling in both formal and informal educational contexts.
2. Application of Knowledge and Understanding: Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the design and implementation of educational activities that integrate digital storytelling. They will develop and implement teaching strategies that effectively use storytelling as a tool to promote student learning in both formal and informal settings.
3. Judgment Autonomy: Students will develop judgment autonomy in critically evaluating the impact of digital media on education and in making informed decisions about the design and implementation of educational activities that incorporate digital storytelling. They will be able to critically assess existing educational methodologies and plan innovative educational activities based on digital storytelling.
4. Communication Skills: Students will develop effective communication skills to clearly convey complex concepts related to digital storytelling and media education. They will be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and other stakeholders, using a variety of means and communication modalities.
5. Learning Skills: Students will develop self-directed learning skills, adapting and applying their knowledge in different educational contexts. They will be able to critically reflect on practical experience in the field of language education and continue to learn and adapt to new challenges in the field of digital education.
