The course on the History of the Institutions of Muslim Societies is part of the related and supplementary educational activities of the Bachelor's Degree in Languages, Cultures, and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (LICSAAM). The course contributes to achieving the educational objectives of the degree program in the area of historical-cultural and humanistic competences. The course aims for a multidisciplinary study of the seminar's subject: interrelations between humans, environment, and nature.
Acquisition of a broad overview of the areal and disciplinary variety of studies on the interrelations between humans, environment, and nature. Ability to conduct a small bibliographic research and synthesis on available studies aimed at defining a framework of scientific and academic consensus on topics relevant to one's own educational path.
No prerequisites required.





The course consists of lectures given by university experts and external scholars, who will present specific case studies related to their area of expertise and field of study. The contributions will cover, as far as possible, the entire area of languages of the Eurasia degree track.





Texts and other reference materials will be communicated and provided via moodle.
Additional references may be provided in class.
The final assessment involves the preparation of a short paper under the supervision of the instructor. The paper must be a literature review that presents a selection of recent studies on one of the course topics. The final version will be submitted on the day of the exam.
